Best Trip of My Life

I love to travel, but sadly it is not something that I get to do a lot, so there are not that many trips I can talk about. However, there are two trips in my life that I would consider the best ones. The first one is my school trip to Berlin on my first year of HF, which was amazing. It was also my first time ever in Berlin and I fell in love with the city immediately. I might do a post about my trip there if there should be an interest in it.

The one I consider my absolute favorite trip was my trip to Nuuk, Greenland last summer. It was also my first trip ever there and I was so nervous. Because I have this really intense fear of flying as well as a fear of heights and I did panic when we took off from Copenhagen.  The other reason for my being nervous was because I was going to meet my family up there and I was going to see the place where my mother was born and grew up.
It was super interesting for me to go there and I had some amazing three weeks. My trip was both filled with lots of emotions for me, adventure, danger, excitement but also a sense of complete calm.

It was also very special for me because I got to meet the mother of the girl I was named after (The old lady). I really cannot describe that, but it was so emotional and she accepted me instantly. At one point I thought she might have tried to adopt me, hahah. I also got a necklace that belonged to her daughter and even though my mother has explained to me why a gazillion times it still feels a bit surreal to me and I do not understand it, because I do not feel like I am that special. I am just a regular girl trying to get by in this world. So yeah.

Another person I was really nervous about meeting, but also very excited to was my nephew (the little boy in the picture). He is the sweetest kid in the world and even though we speak different languages, we still managed to communicate and he seemed to really like me. Mom says that he still asks about me.

Now, while this trip was a lot of fun and very emotional, there was also some adventure and danger involved. I got to hang out with one of my best friends in the world who lives in Nuuk. She and her father took my mother and I on a little fishing trip, which was super nice and lots of fun. I did also catch a few codfish. That may not sound like a big achievement, but you see. I am actually pretty damn scared of fish as well, so pulling them out of the water and onto the boat was quite the task for me.

Anyway the weather was stunning! The sun was shining and everything went well right up until we turned the boat and went home. About half way the boat started taking water in. Not a lot to begin with, so we did not take much notice of it, but all of a sudden it came faster and before we knew it we had water up to our ankles and it kept rising.
We made it almost all the way to the beach before we hit rocks and we had to rush and jump to land from the boat. By then the waves had got fairly big because it had got pretty windy as well, so the boat was rocking a lot. I was the third person to jump and I did amazingly until my feet hit land and I lost my balance.
It was so surreal and I truly know what slow motion feels like now. Falling backwards into that ice cold water between rocks and boat was terrifying and I did think that I was going to die. Luckily someone on shore managed to get a hold of my coat and helped pulling me back up.
No one was hurt. We were all just in shock, which is a good thing.
While that experience was terrifying and also my first near death experience, it also made the whole trip a little more interesting, so it ended well.

I could honestly go on forever about this trip, but I think that I will keep it at this and just end by saying that, my trip to Greenland has hands down been the best trip of my life and I cannot wait to go there again. Hopefully during Christmas this time! So I can see the Northern Lights and play in lots and lots of snow! (I love snow)

What is in my bag?

These days I am usually using my school bag which contains my laptop, pens, paper and various school books, depending on the day. However, outside of school I have a smaller bag that I tend to carry around with me everywhere, because how else should I transport all my stuff around?

So what is in it?

Well for starters, I would like to say that I really love this bag. Not only because it was given to me by my mother, but also because it has the right size for me since I do not carry that much stuff around.

In my bag I always have:

The book I am currently reading –  In this case, Gerald’s Game by Stephen King. I have read this book before, but I loved it so I am reading it again, because why not, right? One can never read a book too many times.

My passport – These days carrying your passport around is a very good idea, since we live in a world where you could need to show your ID at any time.

Sunglasses – I am not always carrying sunglasses around, but now that summer has come around they will be there as well.

A notebook – I am not the greatest writer in the world, but sometimes I do get an idea and I find it very helpful that I can write it down so that I can look at it later on and while I love that I can write stuff down on my phone as well, I always tend to go back to actual paper.

Hand cream – I get dry hands very easily, so I always have my hand cream with me. I bought this one on my very first trip to Berlin and it is amazing. It smells awesome and it works like a charm. I have now also found out that I can buy it here as well, so that makes my life a whole lot easier, hahah.

Lip balm – Same deal as with the hand cream. I get dry lips easily, so having a lip balm is a must. I am usually using Baby Lips though, but I ran out so this is the one I am currently using.

Headset – I cannot live without having music in my ears, so of course I always have my headset with me.

Card holder – I hate to carry cash around and always use my credit card, so of course I have my card holder with me as well. It also contains my health insurance card, blood and stem cell donor cards, my student card, my EU-Health insurance card and my Nem-ID.

Phone – Last but not least, there is my phone. It is not in the picture since I used the camera to take the picture, but I have a white Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge and I gotta say that I cannot go anywhere without it. But who can these days? Our entire lives are pretty much on our phones and computers, which I sometimes find a little sad, but that is just how it is.

So that is it guys. A sneak peak into my bag. What did you think? Do you carry some of the same stuff in your bag? Did any of the content surprise you?

What am I afraid of?

I have many fears and some of them are quite frankly very silly, but something that I cannot help. My biggest fear is dying. I suffer a severe case of fear of death. It is not as bad as it was when I was younger. Back then I could be sitting around just minding my own business and all of a sudden pictures would start popping up in my head and they were not pleasant at all. It would typically be pictures of myself dying in various different ways and it terrified me. It still does. Today I don’t get those pictures in my head as much anymore, but it does happen.

Another fear of mine is butterflies. It is probably one of my more silly fears, but it is a fear nonetheless. While I think that butterflies are beautiful creatures, I still cannot stand them and as silly as it sounds; if one comes anywhere near me I flip out and either run away or start walking in circles until it flies away.

What are you afraid of?

My Proudest Moment

I gotta admit that I have had a lot of trouble with this post and I have thought long and hard about what my proudest moment is and then it hit me.

The proudest moment of my life was 12 years ago when my youngest sister was born. The first time I held her in my arms is my proudest moment and I honestly do not really know why.

She was the smallest, most adorable little human being I have ever seen and I was so afraid that I would break her. She was born 6 weeks premature and the doctors said that she would most likely have a lot of health issues as she grew up.
But now 12 years later, she is the strongest and the most active 12-year-old I know.

What is your proudest moment?

My Dream Job

I am sure that we have all gone through this at one point or another at school. The teacher asks the kids what they would like to be when they grow up and it was no different for me. Back then I was asked that very same question too and at the time, there was quite a few things that I was sure I wanted to be. I wanted to become a teacher, so that I could help other kids through school, because I was struggling so much with trying to fit in and bullying and I wanted to become a teacher so that I could make a difference for someone else.

I also wanted to be a hairdresser. I have always loved to style hair, even though I am really no good at it, but that is after all why you go to beauty school. To learn. While we are on that topic, I also wanted to be a makeup artist. I still sort of do, but it is no longer my dream job.

I think that in the end, we all go through so many stages in life and our dreams will change along the way as well.

As for me. I am now almost 24 and I do not have one dream job. I have around 3. Today, my biggest dream is to become a singer, an actress or an author. Those are dreams that more than likely will not come true, but in the end. My biggest dream is to know that when I get old and I die, I will have set my mark on the world. I want to know that I lived my life to the fullest and that I, in one way or another took part in changing our world for the better.

What is YOUR dream job?

My Favorite Quote

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledore

I would be lying if I said that I only have one favorite quote, because I do not. I have at least a million, but the one that always returns to me is this one.

As a person who is stumbling and falling my way through life and dealing with depression, I sometimes find it very difficult to get back up, smile and continue walking. That is when this quote pops up in my head. It reminds me, that even when things are looking the worst and it feels hopeless, happiness is always within reach. I just have to turn on the light and keep walking, which is what I always do.

I have fought some very tough battles, but I am still standing tall and now I am so close to graduating what would probably be college overseas, which is something I have always wanted to do and it is quotes like this one that has helped me through the hard times.
So I think that this is also a good time to say: Thank you J.K. Rowling!
Without your incredible writing, Dumbledore would not exist and this quote would never have made its way into my life.

Do you have a favorite quote? Why is it your favorite quote?

My Blog Name

When I first started my blog I was not entirely sure what I wanted it to be about. I did not want to make yet another fashion blog, because there are so many of them and because I know absolutely nothing about fashion. I just wear whatever I find comfortable. I spent a long time thinking about what I wanted with this blog and first step was of course, to find a name for it. Something catchy but at the same time something that felt somewhat personal. I hope you get what I mean by that, because I find it difficult to express it.

After a long time I came up with “My Fangirl Universe” and it felt right. It felt like something that was me, but also something that people might actually remember. I decided that I wanted my blog to be about me. I wanted it to be personal. Kind of like a public diary if you will and since I am in quite a few fandoms, I found the name appropriate and I still do today.

I’m just another girl trying to get through life and whatever it throws at me and I thought it would be interesting to share my thoughts and experiences with the world. This blog may change, but who knows? For now I quite enjoy doing this.

It may seem like a weird way to come up with a name, but that is just my way.
How did you come up with the name for your blog? What was the thought process behind it? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
